You can join a test Zoom meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom and test your microphone/speakers before joining a meeting. On the App Store or Google Play store, download ZOOM Cloud Meetings.To sign up for your own free account – ( from your smartphone) You will receive an email from Zoom ( In this email, click Activate Account.To sign up for your own free account – ( from a computer) You will need to have a speaker to hear the meeting and video and audio if you want to be seen and heard. This can be done from your smart phone, Ipad, Android, Tablet, PC, etc. Send that URL to people so they can join your meeting from any device they're using.A Zoom meeting is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and mobile app that allows users to meet online, with or without video.Click the "invite" button on the bottom of the Zoom app window then click "copy URL." (Advanced settings, like turning on a waiting room for people to land in before you let them in to your call, are available on Zoom's website.) From here you can mute participants as they join your call or make Zoom play a sound when someone comes in or leaves.Click the "manage participants" button on the bottom of the video screen.You can always stop video or mute yourself later. If you see "start video," click that, too, just make sure you're ready for people to see you.Make sure you're unmuted by selecting the box in the bottom left corner of the window.Check the box that says "automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting" so you can skip one step next time you want to get on a Zoom call.A dialogue box will pop up and give you the options to "join with computer audio," or "test speaker and microphone."
